There are many small villages around Crete that are worth a visit, such as Sellia, where you can enjoy a panoramic view from the church. Another great destination is the village of Spili, known for its charming narrow streets and Venetian fountains.

This period is perfect to go hiking and explore nature!

Yes, we do recommend that you rent a car, as it will make your experience more enjoyable if you plan to explore the surrounding areas and visit attractions beyond the village.
However, you can get around Gerani without a car. Gerani is a small village, making it easy to get around on foot. You can access supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, and other essential shops by walking.
If you are interested in renting a car, we highly recommend doing so at the airport, as there are no car rental services available in Gerani.
Greek Escape in the old town of Gerano hence why you can move around easily.
There are some restaurants less than 300m from Greek Escape and can be reached by foot in less than 3 minutes walk.
The closest supermarket is 100m away from the villa and you can walk there in 5 minutes.
We highly recommend renting a car as it makes it much easier to explore the island, visit the nearby cities and go for hikes. Car rental can start from €25 per day or €350 per month.
The closest major city to our location is Rethymno, which is approximately a 7-minute drive away. In Rethymno, you will find everything you need, whether it's daily necessities, historical and architectural sites, or vibrant nightlife. Being a student city with a large university, Rethymno remains lively throughout the year. In winter, it becomes particularly vibrant with a busy nightlife, as many students are around.
Alternatively, Chania is situated around 1 hour away from us by car. Chania has a stunning seafront promenade lined with numerous cafes and restaurants, as well as a charming old town area and its iconic lighthouse. It's a wonderful place we recommend you to explore during your time in Crete!
It depends on our bookings, which are always unpredictable. We have 30 bedrooms available, but the average group size can vary between 15-20 people. However, we can't guarantee that number as our occupancy can vary. Regardless, there will always be someone at home to live with, as our community manager is staying onsite.
Kids are so much fun to be around and have much to teach us. Unfortunately, we are not able to cater for them at Greek Escape due to lack of space/facility and the focus that we have chosen to put on coworking and providing a space for deep work and productivity.
Although we love our furry friends, pets are unfortunately not allowed at Greek Escape.

Hiking trails: Due to the mild winter temperatures (compared to the scorching heat of summer), it is the perfect time to go hiking all around Crete.
Visit historical sites: There are many different historical sites all over Crete. Among the most famous ones is Knossos, home to the Labyrinth and the Minotaur's legend. Closer to Gerani, you can find the Preveli Monastery and Rethymno.
Cretan Cuisine: Greece is famous worldwide for its cuisine, and Crete is no exception! In fact, there are many Cretan local specialties that are hard to find anywhere else.
Peaceful beach walks: While swimming might not be suitable during winter (unless you really enjoy cold water), the beaches of Gerani offer the setting for leisurely walks during the day or after work.
Discover local villages: There are many local villages nearby, where you can experience traditional Cretan culture.
