While Plakias might be livelier in the summer, the winter season offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the tranquility of its stunning beaches. Walk along Plakias Beach, a mere 5-minute walk from home, where the only noises you hear are waves and seagulls. For a touch of seclusion, Damnoni Beach is the right place only a few minutes' drive away.

4. Taste traditional Greek Cuisine

Greece is well-known for its traditional cuisine, and Crete is no exception. In fact, it has many local recipes that you can’t find anywhere else. Savor traditional Cretan dishes at local tavernas, such as "kalitsounia" (small pies) and "dakos" (barley rusk topped with chopped tomatoes and local cheese). There are so many local specialties that every meal there feels like a celebration.
